The latest of these trends can been seen deep within IT at the core infrastructure layer – we're calling it "Hyper-Converged" infrastructure. What we are doing is putting all of "IT" back into a single box just like when we started. This theory can be traced back to the main frame thinking of the 1960's, but you only need to go back to the 1990's to see what we've done to try and solve a single problem.
